Sometimes you come across a WordPress website and fall in love with the design and layout.

You are curious as to what theme the website’s owner used.

This is why I wrote this piece! In this guide, we will be making use of a detector called Scan WP.

Please keep in mind that this only works for WordPress websites. Also, some websites take precautions to prevent detection of the theme in use on their site; in this instance, the scan would not produce a result. This applies to WordPress websites with custom themes as well.

To run the detector, you can either copy the link of the website you like and paste it on the Scan WP website or install the Google Chrome extension on your browser.

Either way, you would be able to identify the theme and plugins installed on the loved WordPress website.

The Scan WP browser extension

1. Go to the Google Chrome extensions website and search for the Scan WP extension to install it on your browser or just click on this link. (It is also available as an addon on the Microsoft Edge browser).

Click on Add to Chrome.
